Olive & June 2021 Spring Review and Comparisons

Ah... the days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and Olive & June blessed us with 6 new Spring shades that'll make you want to bring those open toed shoes out of hibernation. These shades are a beautiful combination of pastels and bolds, all with creamy, dreamy formulas. I've decided to compare these 6 new shades to their Olive & June counterparts and one, non-brand, duplicate shade. Enjoy!

Angelfish

Angelfish is described as a "pale blue." I've seen a lot of posts on IG wishing this shade were mint-ier, but I love that Olive & June stuck to their guns. Every good brand needs a traditional, pastel, baby blue. BP is also described as a "light, icy blue," but next to Angelfish it looks almost periwinkle.

Pink Sands

Pink Sands is described as a "sun-bleached pink." I applied two thin coats, then a third thicker coat to achieve this look (all others mani's took two coats). It's a beautiful shade, but if you already have a similar color, it's not a necessity.

Cockatoo

Cockatoo is described as a "glowy lavender with a pinch of pink." I am not a huge fan of purple polish, but if you're a sucker for lavender/ lilac shades, this is for you! It's very whimsical and soft. The perfect shade for Spring.

Lava

Lava is described as a "spicy, orange red" and that's exactly what it is. While the pastels in this collection are delicate and sweet, these bold, fiery shades have my heart. This is my favorite shade from the collection. It is highly pigmented, dries quickly and self-levels like you wouldn't believe.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is described as a "bright tropical pink," but it almost looks red to me. Because of the neon-like properties of this shade, it was difficult to photograph, but it most accurately looks like Electric Night. Either way, this shade is killer and is easily my second favorite in the collection.

Wild Orchid

Hibiscus is described as a "rich magenta purple." It's your perfect Barbie, bubblegum-pink combo, but again, if you have a similar shade in your collection, I'm not sure you need it. Personally, I need every shade from Olive & June, so....

If single-color swatches are more your thing... here you go. From top left to bottom right: #WildOrchid, #PinkSands, #Lava, #Cockatoo, #Hibsicus and #Angelfish.

Overall, I enjoyed this collection. I loved the colors, formulas and finishes right down to the names of the polishes and how I felt while wearing them (which is energized, alive and ready for some frickin' sunshine). Receiving this collection was a high-point to a very long, dark and dreary winter, so thank you Olive & June.
